Idaho Congressman Walt Minnick released the following statement about the jump in Idaho’s unemployment:
“The latest unemployment numbers are disappointing. Idahoans are bearing a heavy burden through this economic recession, which is why we must maintain focus on the most important issue of the day: putting people back to work,” Minnick said. “I am committed to bringing entrepreneurs, businesses and agencies together to collaborate and share ideas, and have directed my office to do whatever they can to cut red tape for anyone who wants to create jobs for Idaho. We’re all in this together.”
Minnick is in the middle of a month-long ‘blitz’ to help jump-start the economy of Idaho’s First Congressional District. Earlier this week he hosted a tele-conference to provide more information on broadband funding for non-profits, companies and economic development agencies. Later this month he will host forums and roundtables for building contractors, for those involved in rural economic development and for employers seeking to do business with the federal government. Minnick is also spending the month continuing his drive to meet with, learn from and assist each of the state’s top 75 employers, and is meeting with many other companies, as well. This week during a trip through North Idaho he visited Coldwater Creek, Mountain West Bank, North Idaho Advanced Care Hospital, Hecla Mining, Accurate Molded Plastics, Kootenai Medical Center, Kimball Manufacturing, ALK, Unicep Packaging Incorporated and others.
